Golden Jubilee Street Parties

EDM number 740 in 2001-02, proposed by Andrew Rosindell on 28/01/2002.

That this House recognises that many groups, organisations and neighbourhoods around the United Kingdom wish to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen's Golden Jubilee Year by hosting street parties; further recognises that to do so requires a great deal of form filling in order to acquire licences for music, dance, road closure and the sale of alcohol alongside expensive public liability insurance; and therefore calls on the Government to introduce urgent deregulation measures in order to allow similar parties at those seen in 1977 at the time of the Silver Jubilee to be held this year without hindrance.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
