Piu Energy Review

EDM number 737 in 2001-02, proposed by Simon Thomas on 28/01/2002.

That this House notes that in his reply to the honourable Member for Ceredigion on 19th December 2001, 377 c286-7W, the Prime Minister stated that the PIU energy report had been leaked to him, and that he could not say what it contained at the present time; further notes that on the Radio 4 Today programme on Monday 21st January, the Energy Minister, the honourable Member for Cunninghame North, stated that the final draft of the report had been received by the Prime Minister before Christmas; believes that the Prime Minister must therefore have received the report on either the 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd or 24th December; considers that a month is ample time for the Prime Minister to consider a report to Government, and not of Government; and demands that the PIU report be published as soon as possible, that the Prime Minister makes a statement to the House at the same time and that constant drip feed of leaks from the report should cease immediately.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
