EDM number 686 in 2001-02, proposed by David Burnside on 21/01/2002.
That this House, in order to achieve the Belfast Agreement objective of parity of esteem between the Unionist and Nationalist communities in Northern Ireland requests Her Majesty's Government, following the establishment of the Saville 'Bloody Sunday Inquiry' in response to Irish Nationalist opinion to facilitate parity of esteem with the Ulster Unionist community by establishing a judicial inquiry into the foundation, financing and operations of the Provisional IRA over the last 32 years including the involvement of members of the Fianna Fail party in PIRA'S formation and also the involvement of members of Sinn Fein in domestic and international terrorist and criminal activities since 1969 and that the Provisional IRA inquiry should receive similar financial support to the Nationalist inspired Saville Inquiry.
