Waverley Line Edinburgh To Carlisle

EDM number 653 in 2001-02, proposed by David Hamilton on 15/01/2002.

That this House urges both the United Kingdom and Scottish Parliaments to ensure the Waverley Line becomes a priority, which will open up both Midlothian and the Scottish Borders; and notes that it is imperative that the rail and road infrastructure is put into operation, which will support semi-rural and rural areas in their drive to develop their economic and tourism strategies that are being promoted following the demise of the coal and textile industries in these constituencies.

This motion has been signed by a total of 26 MPs.
