LIVING STREETS AND THE PEDESTRIANS' ASSOCIATION
EDM number 647 in 2001-02, proposed by Bob Russell on 14/01/2002.
That this House congratulates The Pedestrians' Association on the launch of its new identity Living Streets; recognises that the Association has since its formation in 1929, been a leading advocate in promoting and defending the interests of pedestrians; applauds it for campaigns such as The Walk to School and for Home Zones and pedestrianised areas; supports Living Streets in its urgent challenge to the authorities who for decades have allowed motorised traffic priorities to overwhelm our local streets and public places, and failed to keep them clean and safe; and calls on the Government and local authorities to implement the 10 pedestrian friendly proposals put forward in the Living Streets manifesto.
This motion has been signed by a total of 63 MPs.
