That this House congratulates the Audit Commission and the Commission for Health Improvement on their report NHS Cancer Care in England and Wales; records its concern at the inconsistencies in treatment and care in different parts of the country and between different types of cancer; believes that patients need to have confidence that the care they receive in one part of the country is as good as that received by patients in other areas; and calls for standards in waiting times for diagnosis and treatment, access to modern treatments and provision of palliative care to be brought up to the level of the best.
