That this House welcomes the recent announcement by the Government that health authorities and primary care trusts will from January 2002 have a statutory obligation to fund all treatments recommended by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence; hopes that this will bring to an end geographical variations in access to treatment for cancer and other diseases; and asks the Government to consider ringfencing funds for treatments recommended by NICE.
