House Building In The South West
EDM number 54 in 2001-02, proposed by Brian Cotter on 28/06/2001.
That this House notes that the Government's proposed changes to regional planning guidance for the South West could lead to 55,500 new houses being built in the former Avon area and more than 300,000 houses being built in the region over the next 15 years; is concerned at the level of new house building proposed and its impact on the immense environmental wealth of the South West; and calls on Ministers to think again and reduce the scale of house building, particularly on greenfield sites, in the region.
