Intelligent Speed Adaptation
EDM number 521 in 2001-02, proposed by David Kidney on 04/12/2001.
That this House notes the recent research from Leeds University Institute for Transport Studies and the Motor Industry Research Association showing that the mandatory fitting of Intelligent Speed Adaptation (ISA) could lead to a reduction of 59 per cent. in fatal car crashes; welcomes the decision by DTLR to fund further on-road research; believes that ISA offers a once in a lifetime opportunity to achieve advances in road safety; and urges car manufacturers and fleet operators to offer ISA to customers on a voluntary basis to show their commitment to reducing the numbers killed and injured on our roads.
