Harry Potter And The British Tourist Authority

EDM number 510 in 2001-02, proposed by Pete Wishart on 04/12/2001.

That this House condemns the British Tourist Authority for producing an international tourism brochure on the Harry Potter theme which fails to include a single Scottish site associated with the books and film, even though JK Rowling's magical books were written in Scotland's capital city, and some of the filming of Harry Potter took place on the Fort William-Mallaig stretch of the West Highland rail line, featuring local school children; calls on the BTA to include Scottish sites in the next version of the Harry Potter tourist trail campaign in the spring; and believes that the BTA officials responsible for this have inflicted a costly snub to Scotland.
