That this House congratulates Barbados on the 35th anniversary of its independence; notes that Reading is host to the largest community of Bajans outside Barbados; congratulates the Barbados & Friends Association (Reading) for their organisation of a week of events to celebrate the 35 years Barbados has been successfully independent, commencing with the thanksgiving service on 25th November that welcomed the Deputy High Commissioner of Barbados, Mr Herbie Yearwood, and the Worshipful Mayor of Reading and including a cricket match amongst events organised together with BBC Radio Berkshire; further notes the Barbados and Friends Association (Reading) raises funds for pioneering work in Barbados tackling prostate cancer and would serve as an example to the NHS; and calls on the British Government to build on the excellent work in Reading to foster good relations between the United Kingdom and Barbados.
