Kidnap Of Afghan Women
EDM number 450 in 2001-02, proposed by Ashok Kumar on 20/11/2001.
That this House notes that in times of war women are often brutalised as a way of leaving a lasting memory of conflict and of hurting the wider society; calls the Government's attention to the removal of many of the women of Kabul by the fleeing Taliban forces; and urges the Government to ensure that British troops deployed in the region assist and protect aid agencies providing medical and social care and protection to the women of Afghanistan and that those forces engaged in manoeuvres in Afghanistan make every effort to return these kidnapped women to their homes and families.
