SOUTH WALES 'VALLEYS FIRST'

EDM number 421 in 2001-02, proposed by Dai Havard on 14/11/2001.

That this House welcomes the recent progress of government in Westminster and in the National Assembly for Wales in addressing the social and economic needs of the South Wales Valleys, particularly through Objective One funding and the Communities First Programme; further welcomes the launch of 'Valleys First' by honourable Members of this House and members of the National Assembly, as the first working partnership between ordinary members of both institutions, working together within their individual constituencies and across the South Wales Valleys; and welcomes also the fact, that in order to win greater gains for the localities with most need, the 'Valleys First' Charter will highlight the need for increased support for these communities.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
