Housing Development In South East England
EDM number 397 in 2001-02, proposed by Chris Grayling on 12/11/2001.
That this House is concerned that the Government is pressing ahead with its plans to impose the extensive development of new housing in green land in South East England; note the continued opposition of local authorities and communities right across the region to those plans; praises Surrey County Council and other councils for the attempts they have made to resist the plans; further notes the fact that those authorities are now being forced to press ahead with plans that neither they nor their communities want; and urge the Government, even at this late stage, to review its hugely damaging targets for new development.
