Kent Ambulance Trust

EDM number 355 in 2001-02, proposed by Hugh Robertson on 05/11/2001.

That this House notes that the Secretary of State is soon to make a decision on the proposal to amalgamate the Kent Ambulance NHS Trust with Sussex; urges him to consider the huge opposition to this change in Kent, particularly from those that work in the service, and to accept, firstly, that the money spent on reorganisation could better be invested developing the service, secondly, that it will cause huge concern to people already worried about the closure of the Kent and Canterbury Hospital Accident and Emergency Department and, thirdly, that it is especially vital after 11th September that all emergency services should work to the same boundaries; and therefore further urges him to allow Kent to retain its own county-based ambulance service.
