Ramadan And Afghanistan

EDM number 354 in 2001-02, proposed by George Galloway on 05/11/2001.

That this House notes the call by the five Muslim parliamentarians, the honourable Members for Glasgow, Govan and Birmingham, Perry Bar and the noble Lords Ahmed and Patel and the noble Baroness Uddin, for a halt to the hostilities against Afghanistan during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan; further notes that the Government previously cited and circulated the views of these five parliamentarians when they were characterised as supporting the Government's actions in Afghanistan; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to heed the views of their own Muslim supporters and others, like General Musharraf who also back this demand.

This motion has been signed by a total of 11 MPs.
