Investment In The Cambrian Line

EDM number 328 in 2001-02, proposed by Simon Thomas on 30/10/2001.

That this House is dismayed at the decision by Railtrack not to continue with the investment programme for the Cambrian Line; notes that many of the proposed improvements were to be funded by the National Assembly; is concerned that Railtrack's decision will severely damage rail travel in Mid Wales and destabilise the incoming Wales and Border franchise; believes that the timing of the announcement was buried by the Government's decision to allow Railtrack to go into receivership; and demands that this programme be reinstated in accordance with the Secretary of State's reply to the honourable Member for Ceredigion on 24th October, Official Report, column 224W.

This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
