Jimmy Young Programme

EDM number 315 in 2001-02, proposed by Nick Harvey on 26/10/2001.

That this House deplores suggestions that BBC Radio 2 might enforce the retirement of the popular broadcaster Jimmy Young, who remains a model interviewer, asking consistently well-informed and penetrating questions while maintaining a standard of courtesy which others would do well to emulate; and believes that if Radio 2 fails to renew his contract it would be an act of ageism which would do a great disservice to the listeners.

This motion has been signed by a total of 36 MPs.
