Investigation Into Bombay Stores, Bradford

That this House calls on the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry to conduct an inquiry into the trading practices of Bombay Stores, Bombay Buildings, Shearbridge Road, Bradford BD7 1NX, and in particular their cheating out of ú250 of Mrs K. Alam, a constituent of the Right honourable Member for Manchester, Gorton, who bought a garment from Bombay Stores, found it was of poor and deteriorating quality, returned it and received no acknowledgment; expresses its disgust not only at Bombay Stores' dishonest handling of this transaction but at its proprietors' failure, over a period of more than three months, to reply to letters sent to them by the honourable Member on Mrs Alam's behalf; and warns other potential customers to have nothing to do with these fraudulent traders.
