Youth Hostels Association
EDM number 256 in 2001-02, proposed by Tom Levitt on 17/10/2001.
That this House congratulates the Youth Hostels Association on its fine record of providing low cost overnight accommodation to enable young people especially to explore and enjoy the countryside over many years; notes that, like other elements of the British tourist industry, the Youth Hostels Association has been hit hard by lost revenue this year as a result of foot and mouth disease, but that as a not-for-profit organisation it is not in any position to sustain such a loss; wishes it well in its present funding drive to maintain and develop its services; and urges the Government what it can to promote, maintain and enhance youth hostels and their future throughout the UK.
This motion has been signed by a total of 92 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
