Media And The War On Terrorism

EDM number 247 in 2001-02, proposed by John Pugh on 16/10/2001.

That this House recognises the important and signal role that our national media and journalists have played in ensuring that recent coverage of the war on terrorism and Afghanistan has so far avoided the crude stereotyping and polarisation of peoples, culture, and religions that could so easily and predictably have resulted; and notes that balanced and enlightened coverage of complex situations itself serves and is serving to frustrate the objectives of the terrorist and supports all efforts by the media in that direction.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
