Equal Value Pay For Former Colliery Canteen Workers And Cleaners

EDM number 231 in 2001-02, proposed by Jon Trickett on 15/10/2001.

That this House warmly welcomes the recent Department of Trade and Industry settlement of the equal value pay claim for significant numbers of former colliery canteen workers and cleaners; congratulates the Government for injecting millions of pounds in regeneration grants for former coalfield communities and for financially supporting the remaining coal mines but regrets the fact that a number of former canteen workers and cleaners have missed out on the equal value claim; and, now urges the Secretary of State urgently to review the situation with a view to remedying this iniquitous position.

This motion has been signed by a total of 55 MPs.
