90th Anniversary Of The "centurions" Walking Organisation

That this House congratulates the Centurions on the occasion of their 90th anniversary; notes that since the formation of the Brotherhood/Sisterhood (of Centurions) in 1911 a total of 978 competitors have completed the qualifying requirement of walking 100 miles within 24 hours; congratulates the three new Centurions who qualified for this accolade at the 2001 National Long Distance Championships held in August at Colchester in a race named in honour of the memory of fellow Centurion John Hedgethorne, a former police officer and founder member of Colchester Athletic Club; and wishes the Centurions further success as it steps forward to its century.
