WIDOWS' BENEFIT

That this House urges the Department of Work and Pensions to amend the social security legislation in respect of widows' benefit, thereby ensuring that widows do not suffer financial detriment if they have not claimed within the time limit of three months for claiming; and also calls for the re-introduction of discretionary elements within social security legislation which would facilitate such situations.
