Privatisation Of Ministry Of Defence Records
EDM number 1858 in 2001-02, proposed by John McDonnell on 06/11/2002.
That this House expresses its deep disquiet at the Government's proposals to privatise the Ministry of Defence records service which will have the effect of passing over to a private company the records of military personnel dating from the First World War to the present day, will result in the loss of the expertise of the existing, dedicated staff and the passing of extremely sensitive and confidential information into the hands of the private sector and will put at risk the future security of these invaluable records which have such immense importance for the heritage of this country.
