Commemoration Of The Election Of Neddy Scrymgeour

EDM number 1856 in 2001-02, proposed by Iain Luke on 05/11/2002.

That this House recognises that the 15th November is the 80th anniversary of the election of Edwin Scrymgeour as one of the honourable Members for Dundee; notes that he is the only prohibitionist ever elected to the House of Commons; further notes that he always described himself as a prohibitionist and Labour honourable Member; recognises that amongst others Scrymgeour defeated Winston S. Churchill in the 1922 election; and calls for Scrymgeour's unique contribution to the House to be recognised and commemorated by, for example, the bars refraining from the sale of alcohol on the anniversary of his election.

This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
