Lottery Funding For Village Halls

EDM number 1831 in 2001-02, proposed by Mark Oaten on 29/10/2002.

That this House calls on the Government to recognise the funding crisis now threatening the future of England's village and community halls, caused by reduction in funding to the National Lottery's Community Fund and compounded by changes in other funders' priorities and the new costs of having to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act 1995; recognises the contribution that these village and community halls and their management committees make to civic renewal and regeneration; and supports calls by Action with Communities in Rural England for the Government to create a ú50 million per annum designated Lottery fund for community hall projects.

This motion has been signed by a total of 32 MPs.
