LAUNCH OF BBC'S NATIONAL ASIAN NETWORK

EDM number 1827 in 2001-02, proposed by Keith Vaz on 28/10/2002.

That this House congratulates the BBC Asian Network on its launch as a UK-wide radio station on digital broadcasting; notes that from its beginnings on local radio in the Midlands to its current national status, the station has developed a reputation as a 'one-stop' shop for Asian listeners where they can get national and international British Asian news, music, entertainment and interactive programmes; and welcomes the BBC's commitment to significant new investments to make this service available to British Asian communities across the United Kingdom.

This motion has been signed by a total of 62 MPs.
