Khan Yunis

EDM number 1809 in 2001-02, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 24/10/2002.

That this House notes with horror the Israeli army operation in Khan Yunis on the evening of 6th October and morning of 7th October that left 14 Palestinians killed and over 100 wounded, nine of whom were residents who had come out of their homes when the IDF had withdrawn and were fired on by a helicopter gunship; notes the Palestinian Red Crescent's press release stating the IDF also attacked one of their buildings, and fired on PRCS ambulances which were attempting to provide emergency medical care to many of the victims, in clear violation of international law and the Geneva Conventions; also notes the shameful description of the operation as 'successful' by Ariel Sharon; further notes that this is the third time that Israeli forces have killed more than nine people in a single raid in Gaza this year; and calls for an immediate cessation of arms trade with Israel and the imposition of trade sanctions on Israel until it abides by UN Resolution 242 and withdraws from the occupied territories.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
