National Express + C2c

EDM number 174 in 2001-02, proposed by Andrew Mackinlay on 17/07/2001.

That this House calls on National Express's Chairman and Managing Director to read the Westminster Hall speeches of the honourable Member for Thurrock 23rd January, Official Report, columns 239-43WH, the honourable Member for Hornchurch, 13th February, Official Report, columns 38-44WH, and the then honourable Member for Castle Point, 27th February, Official Report, columns 878-80WH, made during the last Parliament about the parlous management of their c2c franchise; calls on them to consider the Minister's reply in each case; notes that nothing substantial has changed since, except the promotion of Andrew Chivers; and considers that all three have failed their customers, and that National Express should not be permitted to seek new franchises, or refranchising of their existing commitments, until they fulfil their obligations to the communities along the London Tilbury Southend line.

This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs.
