Homelessness And Licensing Of Houses In Multiple Occupation

That this House welcomes the Government's commitment to introducing a system of licensing for houses in multiple occupation and the Government's Homelessness Bill; recognises a system of licensing of HMOs would speed up housing benefit payments to landlords of HMOs, reduce the number of evictions resulting from housing benefit delays and attract more landlords to provide HMO accommodation; and believes that a licensing system should be established without delay to improve standards, increase housing supply and reduce homelessness.
