Car Parking Charges In Oadby And Wigston

That this House notes with regret the decision of Oadby and Wigston Borough Council to introduce parking charges for its car parks throughout the Borough; believes that this will inhibit residents of the Borough and visitors from outside it from shopping in the town centres of Oadby, Wigston Magna and South Wigston, and instead will encourage shoppers to use the free car parks provided by and to shop at the supermarkets in the Borough to the detriment of the independent retailers in the Borough; and congratulates the Conservative Group on the Council on their opposition to the decision to introduce parking charges and for speaking up for the residents and independent retailers of the Borough.
