Conservative Party And The Burgner Report On National Minimum Standards For Care Homes

EDM number 1675 in 2001-02, proposed by Paul Burstow on 22/07/2002.

That this House notes the publication of the Burgner Report on 29th July 1996; further notes that the report set out proposals for reforming the system of regulation of care providers including national minimum standards and a national system of regulation; also notes that the report was signed by the honourable Member for West Chelmsford, the then Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Health; and regrets that the Conservative front-bench health team has forgotten that in Government it commissioned the Burgner Report, welcomes its recommendations and supported its passage into law.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs.
