Parliamentary Pension Arrangements
EDM number 1658 in 2001-02, proposed by Peter Bottomley on 18/07/2002.
That this House believes the faster accrual rate for Members' pensions is justified; further believes that honourable Members' contributions rather than taxpayers' subsidy should be increased; further believes that the scheme should change to average salary instead of final salary; and believes that because honourable Members now have better arrangements than their predecessors and former dependants there should be an uplift in past entitlements paid for by those now in the House; and invites editors who comment on pension arrangements for honourable Members to consider publishing their own salaries and pension expectations.
