Visitor Visa Services In The Indian Sub Continent

EDM number 1655 in 2001-02, proposed by Keith Vaz on 17/07/2002.

That this House expresses its concern at the reduction of visa facilities in Munbai, New Delhi, Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi which is causing difficulties to visitors seeking to come to the United Kingdom; understands the reasons why the reductions were originally made and the travel advice given by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office; notes the reduction in tension between India and Pakistan and welcomes the restoration of direct flights between the two countries; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to review the advice given and to restore the visa facilities in the sub-continent posts to an appropriate level that will deal with the huge volume of applications at this time of increased numbers of visitors between India, Pakistan and the United Kingdom.

This motion has been signed by a total of 50 MPs.
