Rugby League Tours

EDM number 1647 in 2001-02, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 17/07/2002.

That this House notes the record defeat of Great Britain to Australia by 64 points to 10 in the one-off test match held in Sydney on 12th July; further notes that the Great Britain team was made up by players from only four of the 12 Super League teams in the UK; acknowledges the need to establish tours of Australia and New Zealand including matches against club sides so that more players have the opportunity to play at the highest level and to ensure that adequate preparation takes place before showpiece occasions; and calls on the Rugby Football League to work with their international counterparts in order to improve the standard of international rugby league.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
