Industrial Action By Rmt On London Underground

EDM number 1635 in 2001-02, proposed by John McDonnell on 16/07/2002.

That this House notes that the fragmentation and privatisation of track and signal maintenance continues to give rise to real concerns over safety of the national railway; is concerned that the proposed London Underground Public Private Partnership which will contract out and split up maintenance of the tube's infrastructure will replicate the problems of the national railway on the underground; believes that the safety concerns of tube staff are genuine and should be addressed; and urges the Government to ensure that the current safety dispute on the underground is resolved by meaningful consultations taking place with tube staff over their safety concerns.

This motion has been signed by a total of 31 MPs.
