Private Simon Jeans
EDM number 1563 in 2001-02, proposed by Patrick Mercer on 04/07/2002.
That this House unreservedly condemns the brutal murder of Private Simon Jeans of the Royal Logistical Corps in Split, Croatia in 1996, after finishing a charity run to raise money for child victims of the war; notes that at the time of the murder Private Jeans was serving with the NATO peacekeeping forces in Bosnia; further notes that having failed to bring those responsible for the murder to justice the case is now at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia; notes also the frustration of Private Jean's family who feel that neither the FOC nor the MoD have done enough on his behalf; and urges the Government to do everything in the pursuit of justice for the sake of all the servicemen serving the Former Yugoslavia and elsewhere.
