Paediatric Neurosurgical Services In West Wales
EDM number 1541 in 2001-02, proposed by Adam Price on 02/07/2002.
That this House notes with deep concern the contents of the Specialised Health Services Commission for Wales consultation paper, and its recommendation to move children's paediatric neurosurgery from Swansea to Cardiff; further notes that the specialist centre in Morriston Hospital serves from Swansea, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Neath Port Talbot and that extra travelling time involved in transferring emergencies to Cardiff could result in unnecessary fatalities; and calls on the National Assembly Government to support the expansion and continual development of centres of medical excellence throughout Wales, which should be accessible throughout Wales and reflect the needs of patients.
