United Nations Special Session On Children

EDM number 154 in 2001-02, proposed by Hilton Dawson on 16/07/2001.

That this House notes the UN General Assembly Special Session on Children between 19th to 21st September this year; acknowledges the positive steps taken by the Government to address child poverty in the UK and overseas; calls for the UK Government to be represented at the most senior level and to use its influence to call for concrete commitments on health, education, HIV/Aids, armed conflict, child protection and participation, thereby backing the call for international action against child poverty issued by a coalition of faith groups and NGO's.

This motion has been signed by a total of 75 MPs.
