Charges For Access To Health Care
EDM number 152 in 2001-02, proposed by Joan Walley on 16/07/2001.
That this House notes that charges for access to health care can make it difficult for people on low incomes to obtain the care they need; and believes that help with paying prescription charges should be extended to people with incomes above the exempt levels, that affordability problems could be addressed by allowing the purchase of pre-payment certificates on a monthly basis at one-twelfth of the annual cost, and that the scope of the hospital travel scheme should be extended to include easier access to payment in advance, help with non-hospital travel, overnight costs and visiting costs for family members.
