Activities Of British National Party
EDM number 151 in 2001-02, proposed by Alex Salmond on 16/07/2001.
That this House condemns the activities of the extreme right-wing British National Party in their attempts in Glasgow and Edinburgh to stir up racial hatred against members of Scotland's Asian community and asylum seekers in Scotland; and reviles all such activity throughout the UK; celebrates the contribution that Scotland's ethnic minority communities have made to Scottish national life over many generations; and calls upon representatives of all political parties to use moderate and temperate language when discussing issues of race and asylum, in order to avoid appearing to give any succour to the unacceptable views of the racist BNP.
