That this House, on the occasion of the visit to Westminster by Mrs Fadwa Barghouti, wife of Marwan Barghouti, an elected Member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, condemns the kidnapping and detention of Marwan Barghouti by the Israeli forces; notes with concern that he has already been held in solitary confinement since 15th April and that his wife has been denied access; is further concerned by reports that he has been subjected to acts of torture, including sleep deprivation, by the Israeli authorities; also notes that he has not been charged with any offences nor brought before any civilian court of law; and calls for his immediate release and for Her Majesty's Government to put maximum pressure on Israel to ensure his release and an end to this gross abuse of human rights.
