Javis Profits (No.2)

That this House notes the vast profits recently announced by the Jarvis group of companies, a group which was fined ú500,000 for putting rail passengers and workers at risk following two derailments in 1999; further notes Jarvis's otherwise appalling safety record; and calls on the Government to ensure that Railtrack's successor employs a direct labour force to rid the rail network of the current plethora of sub-contracting.
