EDM number 1298 in 2001-02, proposed by Kerry Pollard on 14/05/2002.
That this House believes HIV/AIDS is one of the most serious threats facing the developing world and in particular the continent of Africa; it welcomes the priority that has been given to tackling the disease and calls on the Government to commit further resources at the international level to help combat the spread of HIV/AIDS; congratulates World Vision for its continuing efforts in the field of both HIV/AIDS prevention and care, brought about by increasing the awareness and understanding of HIV/AIDS amongst African communities through sex education, community discussion groups and learning centres; and recognises World Vision's belief in providing care for those already living with the disease and those that have lost relatives to HIV/AIDS.
