Statue Of The Manual Working Class
EDM number 1166 in 2001-02, proposed by Stephen Hepburn on 22/04/2002.
That this House recognises the important and historic contribution made by the manual working class workers of this country; further recognises the wealth they have created and the role they have played during times of war; notes that as many manual workers have died through workplace accidents and diseases as in war; further notes that the significant historic figures are already widely celebrated; and calls upon the Mayor of London's Advisory Group to recommend the erection of a statue to the manual working class on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square as a fitting recognition of their great contribution to this country.
