Visit Of Henry Kissinger
EDM number 1163 in 2001-02, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 19/04/2002.
That this House notes with deep concern that former US Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger, has been invited to speak at a conference in London; hopes that his presence in Britain will be used as an opportunity for the police to interview him regarding allegations of human rights abuses during Operation Condor in Latin America in the 1970s, when following the coup in Chile, military dictatorships throughout the region arranged the systematic elimination of any political opposition; and believes that Kissinger's involvement in the coup in Chile in 1973 and in support of the military regimes in the region places him in a unique position to give insight into the perpetrators of these abuses of human rights.
