Epilepsy Services In Wales
EDM number 1129 in 2001-02, proposed by Chris Bryant on 16/04/2002.
That this House notes that over 20,000 people in Wales have epilepsy; further notes that epilepsy can result in significant disability and social exclusion; recognises that many of the problems and disadvantages experienced by people with epilepsy, their families and carers can be significantly reduced if they receive the kind of direct information, advice and support that Epilepsy Wales presently provides at a cost of less than ú10 per person with epilepsy per year; is concerned that Epilepsy Wales will drastically have to reduce its services this year unless the statutory sector commissions them through stable long-term contracts; and calls upon the Specialised Health Services Commission to commission these services on an all-Wales basis.
