Conduct Of The Rt Hon Member For Chingford And Woodford Green

EDM number 1124 in 2001-02, proposed by Jimmy Wray on 15/04/2002.

That this House believes that it is disgraceful that the Right honourable Member for Chingford and Woodford Green visited Easterhouse in Glasgow in February; notes that as one of the most deprived areas in the United Kingdom, the people suffered most from the Conservatives' 18 years in office who did nothing to help them out of poverty; congratulates the Social Inclusion Partnership for Easterhouse on their work; notes that since 1997 the number of unemployed people has fallen by a third, the number of pupils achieving five or more 'O' grades has increased by a fifth and that over the past five years investment for housing and secondary schools has totalled ú98m and ú35m respectively; and recognises that the Labour Government has done more in five years to help the people of Easterhouse than the Conservative Government did in 18 years.

This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs.
