National Statue For Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother
EDM number 1109 in 2001-02, proposed by Edward Davey on 10/04/2002.
That this House is thankful for the lifetime in the service of the nation of the late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother; notes the countless expressions of respect and affection which have been made by the public since her death; recognises her role in upholding the morale of Londoners in particular and of the nation in general during the Second World War, and during the dark days of the blitz in particular; and calls on the Mayor of London's Advisory Group on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square to consider, after appropriate consultation and at the appropriate time, the possibility of the erection of a statue of the late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother on the vacant plinth in Trafalgar Square as part of a fitting tribute to her memory.
